Rated 5 out of 5 by JuneBug from Excellent Inshore Trolling/Jigging Rod I had used Penn Slammer 6' Inshore Rods on my charter boats for many years. Hurricane Sandy ruined all of them so I had to look for replacements. The ones Penn makes now are too heavy. I wanted rods that let the angler knew they had a fish on. The only dislike I have for these rods is that the butts below the reel seat are 6" too long. I would hope that Shakespeare would offer a shorter butt as an option on this rod. We could always cut them down but that defeats the purpose of a well built, attractive rod, with excellent action for our use, at the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gilbert from Great addition to the medium heavy model. This rod is great for throwing those 1/4oz heads with 3" swimbaits. I have it matched up with a Sigma reel. This is my go to for working the harbors and back bays for those saltwater bass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gilbert from A solid rod. This rod is a perfect match for my Shakespeare Deceiver baitcast reel. From saltwater bass to big halibut this rod gets the job done. With plenty of pull-up strength you can lift up those heavy fish straight to your hand with no net needed. The setup: 7'0 Ugly Stik Inshore Lite Medium Heavy Rod Shakespeare Deceiver Reel with 20lb Spiderwire braid and a piece of 20lb fluoro. Baits: 5-9" swimbaits with 1/2oz-1-1/2oz heads

Rated 5 out of 5 by UncleMikey from Not what I expected, but very impressive! I bought this rod for my fiancee. She has a few other stiks and has yet to really fall in love with either. Both are now in my regular rotation and are top producers! HAHHAHAHA Now back to this rod... not exactly what I expected, but quite impressive. The butt is quite large, but that makes the 6'6" rod seem to be a bit shorter. This makes it very manageable. I like that! I hope she will too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by PMTee from A great rod Bought this rod a few weeks ago. Matched it up with my Calcutta 700. went night fishing on a drift boat in Florida May 10,2014. it has a great touch. Was able to feel the sightest bite.. Landed a good size King and several snappers. Very happy with this pole. not crazy about the finger trigger used for casting. But then again I am not use to them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JTG2 from amazing, tough everything I needed I have had this rod and I have beat it around, fell and jammed it in rocks, crossed rivers and had it completely submerged in salt water (plus my Mitchell 308X spinning reel) and it still works. Super sensitive but tough as nails, I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by drewpyd85 from inexpensive rod holds up for years Always owned ugly sticks... Don't have the money to spend on 200+ rods and I fish salt water all the time. They hold up against the biggest fish and never break. Ugly stick user for life.
