Rated 5 out of 5 by RobbyG from Solid rod I have owned my ugly stik for over three years and it is my go to rod. I also own several more expensive "better rods" but keep coming back to this old girl. I have landed everything from small perch to a 18lb northern pike on this puppy! At times it can flex so hard you think there is no way it can handle it but it has yet to fail me. For the price, I don't think there is a better rod on the market. Never hit the water without it. Only small problem I have with it is that the foam grip is a little on the big side and can tire out your hand after hours upon hours of use.But hey this is a small price to pay for such a great rod. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by outback from OMG i have owned an ugly stik for almost a yr and all i can say is wow. I have taken heavy catfish and flounder with this rod and it keeps asking for more. ppl ask me what i use and they laugh when i tell them it is my main fishing rod, they arent laughing now after i have shown them what my rod can handle vs their more expensive and sadly shattered rods from a heavy fish strike. just today my rod landed a 17 lb buffalo fish and the sensitivity was great i felt every move the fish took and the rod is not damaged one bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CaptainJohn from Charter Captains Choice Been using Ugly Stiks fishing for walleye and perch aboard my charter boat for 20 years on Lake Erie. The rods get used almost everyday from mid May through mid October, they are exposed to the elements 24/7. I occasionally break one at about the second guide from the tip, but the rod is usually 8 to 10 years old - that's not bad for a rod given the abuse my guests put them through day in and day out. I just purchased 10 more as replacement gear - sorry Shakespeare but I probably won't be purchasing any more rods from you for a long time. LoL

Rated 5 out of 5 by JavaFueled from My Kids First RIG I bought this rig for my kids fist pole @ ages of 8 and 10... I mated the Synergy TI 20 with this 2 piece CAL 1102 Ugly Sticks... Great Balance and Comfort in the hands ... This is so nice that my wife wants one because its so easy and fun to use. She is willing to give up her $160 Penn Spinning reel for it... Anyway , it casts @ 20 to 35 yards out easy. Not bad for freshwater but better for the Salts... Thanks Shakespeare for PRICE / QUALITY to match ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by Traviemac from Great Rods! Ive been using these rods ever since i started fishing! I am an avid fisherman, fishing about twice a week for around 6 hours and still use these rods once in a while! They're great for the money, and you won't beat it!!! They're a lot heavier than a 24 ton graphite rod around the same price, but the durability on these things is INSANE!!! i put these through so much torture (lol) I even shut one lightly in a car door and it didn't break! That would shatter a graphite rod. The only negatives with these rods are the weight, the foam handles aren't cork (like most rods now), and the action is a little bendy, but it makes reeling the fish more of a fight (fun!) These make a really great non competition rod. This is my number one recommended rod for beginners, and even people that fish several times during the season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by none from nice feeling! I have had one of these for years. My go-to in any situation: stream, river, lake.... I love the way that it supplies great backbone, but is still touchy enough to give you the feeling that you are really interacting with the fish. I would totally recommend this rod- it's also tough as nails, and has survived the beating I have given it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rick from Great rod CAL110166 25 years ago I had always used Fenwick's, but needed a rod for my grandson. Cheep rod performed as well as my $200 rod, I now own 2 more and 4 CAL110170's for Gulf Coast trout / redfish. I love these rods.
