Product Reviews

Ugly Stik® Saltwater Spinning Combo is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value for bait fishing rod I bought this rod for striper fishing in the tidal flows of the Napa River. This rod is terrific for casting heavier (1 oz +) baits, but the line tends to bunch at the top of the reel if I use the lighter baits that work better in slack tide. Then I get wind knots. Also, this rod isn't sensitive enough to pick up the motion of a swim bait, so it's my bottom fishing live bait rod. While this rod isn't sensitive enough to feel the action of a 7/8 oz swim bait, it is strong enough to pull the bait out of structure where my lighter rod consistently lost baits. I love the reel and have had no problems with it that aren't directly a result of user error.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Rod, terrible reel for lefties. I bought this combo awhile back. The rod is pretty good. The eyes aren't the best and will wear out fairly quick and start creating drag on the line. The main drawback is the reel. You screw the handle in instead of having an opposing screw. It ends up loading the bearings in the reel making it hard to crank if you're a lefty like me. If I take it out, I end up having to spin the handle back a bit every other cast. Happy with the rod, not the reel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality I have an older Shakespeare combo that has performed well for many years and these combos appear to be well made and worth the price. Those “macks” will not be able to resist a sabeki rig on these 2 combos I purchased.
