Rated 5 out of 5 by Bigpapa43 from Amazed I bought this rod (5^8") xtra heavy about 2 months ago, I finally got to take it on an offshore deep sea outing. Equipped with it an Accurate reel, and 80lb invisibraid. The performance of this rod was just amazing!! It had no problem handling Tunas up to 150lbs, so now I wanted to really test it out. Using a 15lb live bait, I sunk it to the bottom (435 ' deep) and put it in the rod holder, only a few seconds went by before the 5'8" tiger rod doubled over and pointed straight at the water. Way beyond the point at which other rods have snapped into on me. After a grueling stand up 2 hour battle, I landed my biggest fish to date...250lb Sandbar. The Tiger rod speaks for itself. Try one, you won't be disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CMonster from Better touch than much more expensive sets I fish deep regularly, going out since the 70s and used to do commercial fishing. I am still a field tester for a big game lure maker here, but I enjoy light tackle fights much more. I have an old ugly stik out for custom wrapping after well over a decade of hard use, so I am an old fan of the rods. I recently purchased two tiger elite jiggers, thinking they are suited for braided better than my old rod, one with higher line ratings to handle the times when our grounds produce tuna over 100 pounds deep jigging. Both spooled up with braided. Action is well suited for tickling out the bite with my hand made flies. My much more costly sets from a competing manufacturer have too much backbone to jig comfortably for hours and don't work as well for me during prolonged fights, not to mention the bite rate working the fish pile is far superior with ugly stiks. First try produced over a dozen tuna 8-20 pounds or so, so only used the lighter rod for that size catch. Not the largest we can land, but decent trial. The only downside: it felt like whoever wrapped the guides did not align correctly with the rod's backbone. It felt about 90 degrees off so the feeling was the rod wanting to twist sideways in my hands, more so on larger fish fights. Don't know for sure that's the issue, but it felt so to me. But then again, its much more cost effective than my other set and my old ugly stik didn't have that issue. I'll keep the rod and send for re wrapping with zirconium type guides when I have a chance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by The Jettywolf from LIGHT!! with new Tuff Guides. I have 10 of the older models. Defined as with all Fugi componets. (reel seats & guides) But of course they ""ran their course"" and are all out of stock. I LOVE THOSE RODS! As YouTubes "Ugly Stik" unofficial Ambassador, (given that name by my viewers, certainly not Shakespeare. You'll find my super popular video's discussing the change to Ugly Tuff Guides and Shakespeare's own reel seats, via a Youtube search. I really wanted Shakespeare to keep these rods as a "high end rod" with the Fugi components. But they don't ask me. Then, comes the need for a few more of these to put my Shark reels on. So I order a few. I put large 30 size reels (Conventional) on them. As always, in the Charter Fishing biz durability trumps fancy. These rods are so TUFF, LITE in weight, and are so popular in my area. They'll catch big Bull Redfish to 100+ pound Blacktip Sharks with ease. While even the smallest woman can hold the 6' 3" rods and not be over-whelmed with tackle weight. They have a good bend to take up powerful runs, with enough control. Easily fish 10 ounces of weight. NOW....the older versions had a metal gimble. I likes that. But now, like many of the rods in the Ugly Stik line up. Now they have a rubber gimble. Turns out these are easier on people, versus the metal. Summarize by saying, the Ugly Tuff Guides are what we ALWAYS wanted on Ugly Stiks. And if you're after BIG fish, these jigging rods just aren't for "jigging" - (butterfly, slow jig, vertical jigging) They are good for many applications fro bottom fishing to trolling too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bottom Fisher from Great rod for the $$$$ I bought the Ugly Stik Tiger Lite extra heavy 5'8" jigging rod for bottom fishing and it outperformed my more expensive Trevalla jigging rod by leaps and bounds. Great balance and feel to these rods. AI got the older model with the steel gimbal and Fuji seat, but the newer ones probably perform great also. Ugly Stik is the best bang for the buck!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by CaptBarlow from Great rod Great rod. Super lightweight but powerful. The xxh can whip snapper and cobia. We will see how the one piece guides hold up. No hook keeper now like previous models but I don’t really use them anyway. Also now there is a rubber gimbal butt instead of metal but it doesn’t bother me.
