Can’t Keep the 2 Halves Together

I needed a 2 piece 8’6” rod to use for bass fishing from shore. I own 5 Ugly Stik’s, all 2-Piece rod’s for Spiining Reels and Bait-Casting Reels. I own and operate 14 Rod and reel setups for taking our church youth fishing. They represent good value for the money, very durable and well made.

However, the 8’6” rid has proven to be a nightmare. If I don’t reset the two halves every 3rd or 4th cast it comes apart. It maybe that the top half of this 8’6” rod is just too heavy to stay seated when being cast. Looking for a solution but nothing has solved the issue. For this reason I strongly caution against purchasing this rod in the two piece configuration.

    Satisfied so far

I bought three of the med action rods with the intention. If using them for walleye, salmon, striper, and med size catfish trolling. I affixed castking line counter reels and have played with them a little bit. Hoping to get on some larger fish and see how they hold up. I will be buying one more med, and likely 2-4 med/heavy for pulling boards. I would like to have seen metal reel seat ring with a locking ring squared off to torque tight.

    Steelhead/salmon rods

I caught my first steelhead 52 years ago. Since then I have used dozens of rods searching for the perfect rod. some costing hundreds of dollars. Last year i purchased two 9' Ugly Stik Elite Salmon/steelhead rods. I was so impressed with the performance that this year I added two 10'6" rods and have decided to add a third. So this year I will be running plugs and all the rods on my boat will be Shakespeare.

    Excellent Rod

I purchase this rod to go with my Shimano Tr100 casting reel. I use this combo to fight and land bull redfish in Galveston, Tx.

    crappy quality control

The graphite wrapping was showing in one section of the rod. How did it pass QC?
